This figure is from Guanacaste Costa Rica, circa 1st-5th century. It's a pendant which probably was used by people of status, because of the blue-green jadeite. It portraits a figurine of two animals. On top a bird which is typical on all of Central America, below what seems to be a monkey or a humanoid figure. I think that this is a symbol of a higher thinking of us as humans. Where through rituals, will evoke these super human qualities represented by animals that enclose both earth and heaven.
